Swimming Lessons

Cal is taking swimming lessons with his cousin Francie, and friend Max. He loves the water! The moment Ted walks into the water with him his legs and arms start flailing! He is so much fun to watch, he looks like he has so much fun.

Sorry it's been so long...

Calvin is getting so big, and he is absolutely a bundle of love! He is 8 months old now, can you believe it?

He now has 5 teeth! His 2 front teeth on top, and 3 on the bottom. He loves to bite... shoulders especially. He also loves to eat, yogurt and prunes is a fav (gross), pears, sweet potatoes and squash are also good. He has also started to really enjoy anything he can chew on (this includes any paper he can find!)

He crawls! Well, kinda. I call it his commando creep. Think of a soldier crawling in the mud under barbed wire... got the picture in your head? Yep, that is Calvin! It is amazing how fast he can go! When I come home, Calvin will see me come in the door, and in about 3 seconds he is at my feet. It makes me want to leave just so I can come home to that welcome :)

On to talking... he makes the cutest noises. I think some of them may be 'close' to being a first word! Dadada comes out a lot, but I am not sure if he connects it to his dad yet! My favorite, mba mba mba (kinda sounds like bob, bob, bob). I think this is his 'goodbye'. Although I know dad would like it to actually be Bob!

So, it is amazing how fast he is growing. I promise I will get better at updating more often! Halloween is this weekend, I will make sure to post pictures!

So much excitement

I had my first overnight away from Cal this past weekend; I was very upset at the thought of it, but did just fine once I was gone. The great part was that Daddy and Calvin got some great bonding time together; they had such a fun time together. I got some girls time away at Missi's bachelorette party in spooner, WI; while it was a quick trip for me, I had a lot of fun.

I had to come home early because CROSBY WAS BORN! Brookie had her second baby, a perfect little boy, he was only 7 lbs 1oz, he is so tiny!!

Then when I saw Cal, I found out that he got HIS SECOND TOOTH! (Not quite as exciting as a new baby!) I still haven't been able to get any pics of them, but they are there, I promise!

First Tooth!

Calvin got his first tooth yesterday! All of that drooling finally paid off! It didn't seem as though it bothered him too much, he only really had 1 day where he seemed fussy about it. I hope it stays that way! I will try and get a picture of it when he is more cooperative about it (he may be a few years old by then... !)

Grandma!

Calvin has the best Grandmas. They both love him so much; I just love watching him with them! My mom drives 4 hours every-other Monday to come and spend 6 hours with him. And not only that, she usually ends up cleaning my house and making dinner! I mean WOW, you can't pay somebody to do that! (Well maybe you could, but it certainly isn't in our budget!)
Ted's Mom (the best mother-in-law a girl could ask for!) Watches him every other Monday, and every Wednesday. This past Wednesday she got to watch him from 9am to 11pm (I worked and then we went to Valleyfair- SO MUCH FUN! I know I am ready to go back again already.) Not only does she watch Cal, she watches my other 4 nieces Tues/Thurs and Fridays!
So, to both of my moms: Thank you so much for loving our baby and helping us with all that you do. We love you!

Excercise and Bath time

Calvin recently got to experience the 'excersaucer' and boy does he love it! He blows spit bubbles continuously. Here he made himself a beautiful spit bubble beard!
He spins in circles and talks to each toy as he goes, he is quite fun to watch.
He has also been showing me how smart he is! (I mean, we knew he would be brilliant with parents like us (hehe), but I didn't think he would start so soon!) I can show him how to do something once or twice and he takes over.










After he covered himself in spit we decided to take a bath. He is so cute in the tub, he sits there very content, but serious while I wash him; even though I am singing in a high-pitched voice the whole time! ("We wash your chubby lil thighs, and your big strong arms, and those under-arm pitties!!" and so on...)

He lets out a great big smile as soon as I wrap him up. I can't decide if he likes being wrapped up, or if he is just happy I have quit singing!

Play with my feet!

Calvin recently loves to have his feet played with. He will point his feet at you to tickle or blow on his toes and then he will pull them back, and repeat! It is quite cute.

Little bald one?

As I was cutting Calvin's hair yesterday (for the second time already!) I remembered what the 'definition' of his name was... little bald one! Oh yeah right! I just had a good laugh and had to share.

Here is a pic (sorry not a great one) of where I cut his hair. He sits in front of the mirror and visits with the little cutie in the mirror while I cut!








I also enjoyed this.. Daddy got a little tired playing. We have finally enjoyed the part of parenthood where baby doesn't like to sleep :( We have been so lucky with how much that he has slept in the past that it is really hard to get used to now!

4 months of Calvin

Well since I didn't get this started until CalPal was 4 months old, let me update you on all that he has accomplished in his short life so far!


Our first 2 surprises on Feb 21st at 9:22pm? The fact that he was SO LARGE! and ALL THAT HAIR!












This was my favorite expression of his in his first few weeks. His eyebrows would go up, his lips would purse and he would let out the sweetest little 'aaahh'. Melts my heart!









At 3 weeks old he started giving us 'real' smiles! My favorite time of the day with him was first thing when we woke up (usually around 9am! We got lucky with a baby who liked to sleep at night!) he would just lay and smile and talk and do his stevie wonder impression.

1 month old, first time in his bumbo. He did this cute little head bob like he was keeping the beat with music.

Cal got a new bathtub from our Auntie Bookie, at first he hated it, but after a few minutes he decided it was pretty great to sit in a bucket of warm water.
















Calvin is a world traveler already. We took a trip to Playa del Carmen and cal got to come along, he was a wonderful travel companion!












We were in front of the mirror in this pic, he has recently found that cute little boy in there, and he really enjoys him!
(We also got a haircut right before this, 14 weeks and we were shaggy! oh, mom got a haircut too, 9 inches off of mine!)









And finally, we started solid food! Calvin has had rice each day this week, and he loves it!

He also loves when his daddy sings to him... his favorite used to be the pepperoni song (...ask ted) and more recently it is tutti fruiti or eye of the tiger!

He has changed so much in 4 months, I can't believe how fast time goes!

Hello!

Life is just a bowl of cherries... or as mom liked to say a chair of bowlies! So, here is my place to simply write about life, my chair of bowlies.
I have a great life, I have been married to Ted for just about 3 years, and we have the most ADORABLE son Calvin, who is just about 4 months old! We are lucky to each have very supportive parents and siblings, as well as our 5 nieces and 1 nephew (with one more on the way!) This blog will simply be about our simple, but wonderful life together. I want an open place for me to be me, where I can write about our adventures so I don't forget a thing!
